One year before the Gujarat Assembly elections, i.e. in December 2021, 10,879 Gram Panchayat elections are coming up in the state. The state election commission has also announced this today. Voting for this election will be by ballot paper on December 19 and counting of votes will be done on December 21. Voting will take place on December 19 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

2 crore 6 lakh 53 thousand voters

The declaration for this election will be published on November 29 and December 4 will be the last day for filing nomination papers. There are 2 crore 6 lakh 53 thousand voters in this election.

Code of Conduct in 60% of the villages

At the same time, out of the total 18000 villages of the state, the code of conduct has been implemented in 10,879 villages i.e. about 60% of the villages.

By-elections will also be held for the vacant seats

Elections of 10,284 sarpanches will be held in 10,879 gram panchayats as well as election of members in an estimated 89702 wards. Apart from this, in the Gram Panchayats whose election term ends after March 31, 2022 and whose term is more than one year away, elections will also be held for the occasionally vacant seats. Elections will also be held for Gram Panchayats with split and mid-term elections.


BJP's preparations in full swing, AAP-Congress stuck

The BJP government and the organization have started preparations for the Gram Panchayat elections, but the Opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are still stuck in the formation of the organization. The Congress has not yet declared the state president and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. As a result, the Congress is stuck with the panchayat elections.
