The state government's agriculture department had launched the I-Farmer Mobile Assistance Scheme to provide mobile assistance to farmers. A total of 33 thousand 79 applications were made to avail this assistance. Out of which Department of Agriculture has approved 32 thousand 775 applications. However, the state government has allocated only Rs 10 crore in the budget to provide mobile assistance to farmers. So 16 thousand 667 farmers will be given mobile assistance. Under this assistance, the agriculture department will pay Rs 6,000 to these farmers for purchasing mobiles.

It may be mentioned that the state agriculture department has increased the assistance for purchase of smart phones from 10 per cent to 40 per cent. The government will help farmers buy phones up to Rs 15,000. Assistance up to 40 per cent of the cost and up to a maximum of Rs 6,000 will be provided to farmers on mobile purchase. Let me tell you, earlier 10 per cent subsidy was given on the purchase of mobiles worth Rs 15,000.
The agriculture department then sought the finance department's approval to increase the aid. The state government was later allowed to provide more assistance. Therefore, during that time, the state government issued a written circular announcing additional assistance. For example, if a farmer charges Rs 15,000, the government will provide Rs 6,000 to the farmer. While the remaining 9 thousand farmers will have to suffer themselves.
