833 candidates from 61 parties are in the fray in the second phase of the Gujarat elections whose fate will be decided by over 2.51 crore electorates. There are 26,409 polling booths and nearly 36,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Around 29,000 presiding officers and over 84,000 polling officers have been deployed in 14 districts to facilitate the polls.

Of the total 26,409 polling stations, 93 are model polling booths, 93 are eco-friendly booths, another 93 are managed by Divyang and 14 are managed by youth. Webcasting will be done in 13,319 polling booths in the second phase.

The 93 poll-bound seats in the second phase are spread across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravali, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda and Chhota Udaipur districts.

Among the key constituencies in the final phase are Ghatlodia, which will determine the poll fate of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel; Viramgam where Patidar leader Hardik Patel will contest as a BJP candidate, and Gandhinagar South where the saffron party has fielded Alpesh Thakor.

This is the second and final phase of the Gujarat election. First phase polling for 89 seats was held on December 1. Votes will be counted on December 8.

Gujarat Elections 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in the second phase of assembly elections in Gujarat's Ahmedabad today. PM Modi exercised his franchise at Nishan Public School, Ranip in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, polling in the second and final phase is being conducted for 93 Assembly constituencies across 14 districts of north and central Gujarat. Young girls and boys should vote: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and members of his family, including his son and BCCI secretary Jay Shah, cast their votes at the AMC Sub-Zonal Office in Naranpura of Ahmedabad. Shah said, "I appeal to everyone to vote, especially the first-time voters - the young girls and boys should vote."

Gujarat Election 2022 Live Updates: 19.17% Voter Turnout Till 11 am in Phase 2

Gujarat Assembly Election 2022, Phase 2 Polling Live Updates: Voting for the second phase in the Gujarat Assembly elections began at 8 am on Monday, 5 December. 93 of 182 seats are being contested.

The Election Commission stated that an average 19.17 percent turnout was recorded on Monday till 11 am.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote at Nishan Public School in Ahmedabad on Monday. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also cast their votes in Ahmedabad.

The state, which previously witnessed a contest between the BJP and Congress, has seen the introduction of AAP as the third big player.
  • Voting for the first phase ended on 1 December with 63 percent turnout
  • The 93 seats of the second phase are spread across 14 districts in the state

How to Apply for Voter ID Offline in Gujarat

If you wish to apply for a Voter ID in Gujarat, all you have to do is fill up a form and submit it with supporting documents at the Electoral Office.

The procedure to obtain a Voter ID in Gujarat is described below:

If you satisfy the eligibility criteria to become a voter, procure Form 6 issued by the Election Commission of India for registration of a name in the electoral list.
